Early Learning Center Director Susan C. Perry

Susan C. Perry became Director of Congregation Beth Elohim's Early Learning Center on July 1, 2016.

Susan lived in New York, Michigan, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Illinois before moving to Stow, Massachusetts, in 1983. She and her husband, Ross, raised their 3 children, James, Catherine and Edward in Stow.

Susan attended St. Lawrence University, receiving her BA degree with a French major, with dual enrollment at the State University of New York–Potsdam to acquire certification in Preschool, Kindergarten–6 grade.

Susan returned to teaching in 1988 as a substitute teacher in the public schools of Stow and a local preschool. She enrolled in a Masters in Counseling program at UMass Boston that year.

In the fall of 1990, Susan and her teaching friend, Nancy, opened Steppingstones School. The school offered preschool and kindergarten programs for children 2.9–7 years of age for 26 years. Susan was a teacher in the pre-kindergarten classroom and shared the director responsibilities for the first years. As the program grew to enroll over 80 children and a staff of 12, she became the full time director/owner.

Susan was a charter member of the Nashoba District Community Partnership for Children and served as co-chair several times. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, PTO Chairman, COA volunteer, religious education teacher and member of the Stow Community Chest for many years.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, 6 grandchildren (4 who are identical twin sisters!) and extended family and friends.
