Volunteering at Congregation Beth Elohim
Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you are a part of. – Author Unknown
HOW TO VOLUNTEER: There are a variety of ways to volunteer at CBE.
It Takes Many Hands to Make One Community!
- Check out the opportunities listed under the “Get Involved” tab on this website. Visit pages for groups like Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Social Action/ Na'aseh, Kulanu, Adult Education or the Chesed Committee, and find out how to join.
- Complete our survey: The Volunteer Engagement Committee (Jaymi Formaggio, Chair) would love to know how you would like to share your skills, talents and time with your CBE community. Anything from one-time help “pitching-in” to support an activity, to helping to plan an event, to committee seats. No offer of your time is too small. . .or too big! We would love to hear from you and ask you to complete this survey.
- OR Contact the Volunteer Engagement Committee directly: Feel free to email Jaymi or Chuck Pollak at volunteer@bethelohim.org.
WHY VOLUNTEER
Congregation Beth Elohim is blessed with a wonderful professional staff and many fine teachers in the Religious School and the Early Learning Center. But that is not enough to make our community a truly great place. Our congregation relies heavily on volunteer power from congregants like you. Strong volunteer engagement enriches all our programming (e.g. Hospitality for services, Brotherhood and Sisterhood events and so much more) and is also very necessary to keep us running (e.g. the Board, financial staff, committees including Operations. Adult Ed, Programming). There is a very great variety of volunteer opportunities, as well as skill levels and talents needed. On a personal level, volunteering is also a superb way to meet more of your fellow congregants, take ownership, and help set directions for CBE.
The Volunteer Engagement Committee
This committee was created to help in recruiting volunteers and “to instill in all members a desire to contribute to our future”. We do this by promoting volunteer opportunities and ensuring volunteers are thanked and their good work recognized. You can reach us by writing volunteer@bethelohim.org.
