Our Education Director
Our Education Director - Cindy Kalish
On July 1, 2024, Cindy Kalish began as the Director of Education at CBE. Cindy has been a religious school educator for 18 years and has taught at CBE for the past six years. She brings a passion for joyful Jewish learning and is always hopeful that her students learn as much from her as she learns from them.
Prior to teaching religious school, Cindy worked in Human Services for 20 years. This included working with children and families in both residential placements and foster home settings, through what was then The Department of Social Services and The Department of Youth Services. In those roles, Cindy worked for four years as the Children’s Program Coordinator at Daybreak Shelter for Battered Women and their Children and, for several years, worked in the Human Resources Department of The Bridge of Central MA as the Recruitment and Training Coordinator.
In 2006, Cindy was asked to teach first grade at Temple Emanuel in Worcester and found her passion for education.
Cindy lives in Chelmsford with her wife, Martha, and together they have three children and have been busy with high school, bachelors, and masters graduations. When not at CBE, Cindy can be found riding her bike on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, working as a certified lifeguard at her condo’s pool, picking flowers at Ferjulians Farm in Hudson, or walking on Nantasket Beach.
Cindy graduated from Clark University in 1986 with a BA in Sociology, English and Women’s Studies, but most of what she knows has been learned through life experiences; beginning with her upbringing from an early age at Temple Beth Sholom in Hull, MA and continuing to learn from many of the very best Jewish educators and clergy throughout the years.
She is looking forward to continuing in the role of Education Director at CBE.
