Sunday, March 26, 2023 4 Nisan 5783

9:15 AM - 11:15 AM

Astrophysicist Alex Storrs will talk about the James Webb Telescope, the recent DART mission to Dimorphos, x-rays observed from the National Solar Observatory — and maybe even UFOs!

Dr. Storrs earned his Bachelor’s degree in physics from MIT in 1983. He did his graduate work University of Hawaii observing Halley’s Comet, earning his Ph.D in 1987. Following post docs at Goddard Spaceflight Center and at the U. of Texas, he worked at Space Telescope Science Institute scheduling observation of planetary targets, especially the collision of comet Shoemaker-Levy IX into Jupiter. In 2000, he joined the faculty of Towson University. In 2021 he retired and moved with his wife Jean to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia where he is finally reading some of the books acquired over the last several decades!
