Brotherhood Breakfast

Sunday, November 2, 2025 11 Cheshvan 5786

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Join Brotherhood for breakfast followed by a talk by Michael Hecht, recently retired as an Associate Director of MIT Haystack Observatory.

Breakfast will be available at 9:00 AM and the speaker (and Zoom session) will begin around 9:30 AM.

During his career, Michael Hecht led two experiments on NASA Mars missions, the MECA soil analysis suite on the 2008 Phoenix mission and, most recently, the MOXIE instrument on the Perseverance rover. MOXIE is notable in that its purpose is not to study Mars per se, but to demonstrate that it will be possible for future astronauts to manufacture large quantities of oxygen from the thin Martian atmosphere. Michael will describe some of this work and offer some insights on space exploration from a Jewish perspective.

For our planning purposes, it is important that you pre-register below.  There is no charge for Brotherhood members (join the Brotherhood here) but we ask you to please still pre-register.  Non-Brotherhood members pay $10 when registering in advance below or $12 at the door.
