Brotherhood/ CBE Kulanu Initiative Breakfast with Rabbi Fish

Sunday, December 18, 2022 24 Kislev 5783

9:15 AM - 11:15 AM

Welcome to Breakfast at Congregation Beth Elohim with Rabbi Ron Fish, co-sponsored by the CBE Brotherhood and the new Kulanu Initiative of the Anti Defamation League

People of the wider community, neighbors, friends and members of Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE) are all very welcome to a talk and discussion with Rabbi Ron Fish, East Division Director of Antisemitism Education and Advocacy for the Anti Defamation League, better known as ADL.

There is no charge for this event.  CBE's Na'aseh will happily cover the typical in person breakfast entry fee of those of you outside of the CBE community or CBE congregants that are not Brotherhood members.

CBE's Kulanu Initiative

This talk marks the first local event co-sponsored by Kulanu, a Hebrew word meaning "all of us". It takes all of us to address antisemitism, discrimination, and hate speech. Congregation Beth Elohim, along with over a hundred other synagogues across the country, joined ADL's Kulanu initiative last month. This effort is focused on combating hate speech through advocacy, community engagement, and education.

Rabbi Ron Fish speaker topic and background

Rabbi Fish will talk about the ADL's response to current antisemitic events and issues in the greater Boston area, and how we might address them.

He is a graduate of Brandeis University and The Jewish Theological Seminary. He has served as a congregational rabbi in 3 communities in the Northeast for 25 years. Most recently, Ron was the senior rabbi of Temple Israel in Sharon, MA. He is a member of the executive committee of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis and has worked through the years as a committed and enthusiastic partner for interfaith dialogue.

In the run up to the vote on the Affordable Care Act, Ron organized 400 colleagues across the state of Connecticut to advocate for universal healthcare. He serves in the ADL as the East Division Director of Antisemitism Education and Advocacy. His primary task is to address antisemitism on college campuses and to offer support for Jewish communities during those first years of adolescent independence on campuses from Maine to Delaware.

He is the proud father of four and the husband to Leah Bieler, a writer and fellow Jewish educator.
