Tashlich Service

Saturday, September 19, 2020 1 Tishrei 5781

3:00 PM - 4:00 PMMultiple Assigned Locations

Tashlich means "casting off" in Hebrew and involves symbolically casting off the sins of the previous year by tossing pieces of bread into a body of flowing water.

The ritual for Tashlich offers us an opportunity to congregate in person as it is an activity done outdoors.  We have selected 3 locations for the ritual to be performed: Ice House Pond in Acton, the Acton Canoe Launch at the Acton/Maynard border, and Nara Park in Acton.  Click on each location for the map and location.

We will have the following rules and process in place so that we can congregate safely.

  • There will be a limit of 25 people participating at each location and all must wear masks and families must maintain 6 feet distance.
  • People must sign up by September 11th.  No one can attend without having signed up. Sign up below.
  • On September 17th or 18th, those signed up must complete and submit the Health Attestation Form in order to attend.  This form provides phone number for contact tracing, an attestation that no member of the family has COVID symptoms or has had recent contact with COVID positive individuals, a promise that they will wear a mask at the ceremony at all times and remain socially distanced.  You will receive a “receipt” email after submitting the form.  Please bring that with you – either print it or have it on your phone.  CLICK HERE to complete this form (open only as of September 17th)
  • In all locations, there exists a large common area for the prayer to be said.
  • No more than 2 families, at a time, will go to the body of water and each family will maintain 6 feet of distance.
