Jewish Racial Justice Tour

Sunday, October 27, 2019 28 Tishrei 5780

8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

UPDATE: Registration is closed, all seats are taken

Join us for this Na'aseh/ Social Action sponsored tour!  Sign up BELOW soon as the tour is limited to the first 25 paid registrants!  Deadline for paid registration is Monday, October 21st.

Join us for a tour of many of the sites where Jews lived in Dorchester, like former temples that are now churches, the G&G Deli, and the wall where people gathered to talk at Franklin Field. We will stop by a church service in a former temple and finish with a bite to eat at Simco's.

Most of the focus is on a particular program that brought redlining and blockbusting to the Jewish sections of Mattapan and Dorchester from 1968-1973, hastening the flight of Jews to the suburbs and hurting the African-American residents who succeeded them. Our guide is Lew Finfer of the Mass Communities Action Network.

Participants should be able to walk for two hours and be able to climb in and out of the bus.

Sign up below.  The deadline for signing up is Monday, October 21, or earlier, if the limited slots are filled.  This trip is limited to the first 25 registrants so that everyone can hear the guide.  The cost of $20 covers the cost of the bus.
