Na'aseh "We Will Act" Needs YOU to Help Fight Covid-19

You can help alleviate the pain and suffering that Covid-19 will cause health care workers and the most vulnerable among us, all from the safety of your own home. We urge you to select at least one action with which you feel comfortable. For questions, please contact socialaction@bethelohim.org.

1. Help make face masks

  • Donate your 2L plastic bottles to those who are using their 3D printers to make masks. We have set up a collection bin outside the synagogue and we will deliver the bottles for you. Bottles must be clear, clean, not dented or scratched. Please keep labels on so as not to scratch the plastic. MORE INFO HERE
  • If you can sew, you can create face masks. Acton Medical and Lowell General Hospital are still accepting masks. To donate to Acton Medical, call Nicole Barbetta at 978-635-8818 when you are ready and she can arrange to meet you outside. To donate to Lowell Hospital see instructions and drop-off point HERE. For other questions, contact socialaction@bethelohim.org.
  • If you have a 3D printer or would like to donate time, materials or money, please consider helping CBE members Jon and Amy Churchill, who have crowdsourced Acton 3D PPE to build and distribute face shields to local doctors, nurses and first responders in Acton and surrounding areas.

2. Support our neighbors who are hungry

  • Donate to CBE's Alex Young Fund, which funds Social Action's dinners at Mt. Calvary Community Supper (still open for pick-up meals only). Donate HERE. On "Type" of payment line, choose "Alex Young Social Action Fund."
  • Acton Food Pantry needs volunteers to deliver groceries to home-bound residents

3. Help our immigrant families who are in peril because of job loss, illness, detention of the breadwinner, etc.

  • The Metrowest Immigrant Solidarity Network (MISN) Neighbor Fund, based in Framingham, is asking for gift cards from Market Basket and Stop & Shop to give to hungry families. To arrange delivery, contact socialaction@bethelohim.org. More MISN info HERE. You can make a credit card donation for groceries HERE.

4. Help those who are in ICE detention right now and in danger from a Covid-19 breakout

  • We are advocating for the release of as many detainees as possible before the spread of the virus prevents their ability to pay bond or make their cases, or worse. Beyond Bond and Legal Defense Fund is raising funds for bail bonds, to get people out of detention before it's too late. More info HERE
  • Call Governor Baker at 617-725-4005 and ask him to release all detainees in our state. You can also email the Governor.
