Thursday, March 26, 2026 • 8 Nisan 5786
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM99 Millstone Road, Westford, MA
Want to visit a cutting-edge radio science research facility right next door in Westford?
We are limited to 25 attendees and we reached that limit on our initial visit back on June 17 of last year.
So sign up, below, soon to secure your slot. If the limit has been reached, email brotherhood@bethelohim.org to add your name to a waitlist.
There is no cost for this tour.
MIT’s Haystack Observatory high-powered staff and instruments are at the forefront of major advances in fields like astronomy, space, weather, geodesy, and space technology. One recent achievement was to play a key role in the imaging of the supermassive black hole at the center of our Milky Way galaxy!
CBE's Brotherhood and Adult Education groups have combined to offer another tour of Haystack, since the initial tour last June was oversubscribed.
On the sign up form, you will let us know whether you want to carpool from the Beth Elohim parking lot, arriving prior to 2:30 PM, or whether you will head directly to Haystack in Westford at 3:00 PM. See HERE for the map and directions.
The afternoon will begin with a talk by Tour lead, Jens Kauffmann, the Astronomy Group Lead at MIT Haystack Observatory. He will talk about current research with time for questions and answers. Then, we’ll put on hard hats and head into the 37-meter radio telescope’s radomes for a tour, followed by a visit to the correlator/supercomputer.
Read more about Jens Kauffman HERE.
Afterwards, closer to 4:30 or 5PM, those who wish can gather at Westford’s Burton’s Grill & Bar to discuss the day’s experiences.

The form is now closed as the limit of 25 has been reached. If you want to attend, email brotherhood@bethelohim.org to be added to the waitlist.
