By now, most of our members will know that Rabbi Michael Rothbaum will be Congregation Beth Elohim's next rabbi. With the decision made, we just wanted to share with you the final steps in our Rabbi Search process. The Rabbi Search Committee presented the congregation’s feedback on our two strong candidates to the Board of Directors. After a full discussion and based on the unanimous recommendation of the Rabbi Search Committee, the Board voted unanimously to offer Rabbi Rothbaum the position of rabbi of Congregation Beth Elohim.
On March 5th, the congregation voted to accept the terms of the contract that the Board had negotiated with Rabbi Rothbaum. With the contract approved and signed by both Rabbi Rothbaum and the President of the Board, we were pleased to announce that Rabbi Rothbaum – or Rabbi Mike as he likes to be called – is the Congregation’s new Rabbi and we are excited to welcome him into the Beth Elohim community.
We appreciate all the thoughtful feedback our members included in their rabbi weekend surveys. We will be sharing the feedback on Rabbi Mike with the Transition Committee so that they (along with support from Beth Elohim staff, the Board, and you) can help Rabbi Mike get off to a strong and successful start.
As we come to the end of this long and transformative process, we would like to acknowledge the time and effort that so many people contributed to get us to where we are today. Special thanks go to the Polling and Sensing and Rabbi Search Committees.
As we look forward, we wish Rabbi Mike and Congregation Beth Elohim a wonderful future together.
